Bad vision, according to Dr. Bates, is mostly a mind issue rather than there being something physically wrong with you.
Myopia for example could be caused by strain. Maybe your subconsciousness decided it does not want to see, triggered by some kind of traumatic event in your past.
Maybe you experienced greater than normal amounts of stress at one point in your life that caused your acuity to decrease, then promptly went to visit your eye doctor whom prescribed you your first glasses and ever since your vision has worsened because your glasses “fake” good sight to your mind, showing it that the way you use your eyes is correct, when it isn’t.
Alongside the basket full of eye exercises you will find on this site and all over the web it is often very beneficial to add positive affirmations to your new vision habits. A positive affirmation is a statement you make to yourself as often as you like throughout the day.
It should make you feel good and you should feel as if the statement reflects the truth (even if it currently isnt)
Such statements could be:
“My eyesight is good, I can see everything clearly”
“I can see distant objects very clearly”
“I am relaxed and my vision is improving”
and so on.
Be creative, whatever statement makes you feel good is right.

Whether you’re myopic or farsighted you will have what is called a clear zone and a blur zone. The clear zone is the area where your eyes work ok and you can see clearly, while the blur zone is the area in which edges start to blur.
Depending on the strength of your myopia your blur zone might not start until a couple feet away or it may be inches from your face.
If you’re a strong myopic try to find your blur zone by raising your thumb to your eye level and moving it away from your face until you notice the clarity leaving from the edges of it. Move it back and forth a bit to locate where the blur zone is exactly.
Once you have found the line where your clear zone ends and your blur zone starts move your thumb a bit further beyond this point. Now start tracing the edges of your thumb, acknowledging that there is a blur, accept that there is a blur, be aware that it is a condition you can change.
Now as you do this, move your thumb further into your blur zone slowly and keep tracing the edges of it. Once your arm is fully stretched out, reverse the action and move it back towards your clear zone, all the while tracing the edges of your thumb.
It is important to do this slowly, i’d trace the outline back and forth about 5 times before i’d move my thumb.

Squeeze your eyes shut and count to 5. Then open your eyes and blink normally for 5 more seconds. Then squeeze them shut tightly once more, count to 5, and open them again. Blink normally.
Your eyes should begin to moisten, it should feel good.
While squeezing your eyes make sure you only squeeze with your eyelids. Try to not scrunch up your forehead muscles or the muscles around the eyes. Also if you happen to catch yourself frowning that should be avoided too.
Only your eyelids should be involved.
So do this a couple times, 10 times is probably enough, although if it feels pleasant feel free to do it more often than that
